At Birth
Maysa was born in January of 2008 via C-section, perfectly healthy with a well rounded head. She only cried a little at birth and then went to sleep for hours in a row. I knew from the start that she was going to be a good sleeper, unlike her older sister, Soraya.
What I didn’t know is that she also had torticollis. Looking back at all of her baby pictures, Maysa always slept with her head turned and/or tilted to the right. I never thought much of it. Babies have so little head control and support at that age that I just let her sleep on that side all the time.
Here are a few pictures of her while still at the hospital. You can clearly see in the one where she is on the scale that her head is round in the back. In the others she shows a preference to her right side, and believe me, in all her baby pictures her head is turned to the right…

my son has just been diagnosed with plagiocephaly , what you have written has made me think about how my son was left in neo natal. Jack ,thats his name is now 4 months old on corrected age I had been asking and asking if the flat spot would fix itself and was told not to worry all would be fine and it would fix itself even when I told them it was getting worse . As with all your pics my son has always faced right when laying {all pics from NICU are facing right} I will read the rest of your blogs but thank you so much, Have learnt more than the ped doctor told us unfortunnately my eldest son has it that is plagiocephaly and has a huge flat spot at the back and also suffers from Interlectual Impairment ,the strange thing is my wife or myself had ever heard of this word before . We live in a small town in FNQ Aust I hope my son gets the same help as Maysa, beautiful name, thanks for listening Darren
